| An IR program goes to university via TV |

The combination of multimedia resources with a desire to promote the capital market has been the highlight of an initiative created by Intra Corretora. Since April this year, its Investor Relations Program (www.programaderi.com.br) has been promoting presentations by public companies for individual investors. In June, something new expanded the event’s scope considerably. With the support of Estácio de Sá University, companies began to give the same presentations in a TV studio and broadcast them to all of the teaching institution’s campuses. Recording is done at Estácio’s central campus, in Rio de Janeiro, and the transmission is broadcast live to 62 of the university’s campuses in 12 Brazilian states. “It’s technology helping us to expand the reach of the presentations", says Marcelo de Faro, Intra economist. Given in accessible language for the average investor, each presentation lasts about 40 minutes, and the remaining half hour is set apart for sending in questions via e-mail. According to de Faro, these 30 minutes are barely enough to answer the number of questions asked. “We had to answer them later, in some cases”, he says. The program’s first telepresentation took place in June, with a presentation by BM&F Bovespa. They also used the Multiplan system, Petrobras and Estácio itself. De Faro says that there was an attempt to broadcast the presentations live via internet, but the idea didn't work. “Users with slow connections couldn’t watch the broadcast”, he says. |
